My name is Dee and I am an Irish Primary School teacher. Yes, I have pink hair. No, my employer doesn’t mind, and neither do the children!
I’ve been teaching since 2005, and a Mammy since 2008. I have worked in three very different schools and have taught most class levels. I am currently teaching First Class (age 6-7) and I love it. Songs, stories and playtime are part of our daily routine.
As a teacher and a parent, I am constantly learning. I am passionate about making school a fun learning environment for all. I have particular interests in Play, Music, Picturebooks and STEM; basically, any subject where teacher and children can be creative and have fun. I love to share ideas with other teachers.
I am also passionate about Professional Development for Teachers. Every day is a day to learn something new. I founded a Facebook group for teachers called 'Science of Reading Discussion for Irish Teachers'. Please join us! I am currently in the middle of a Masters of Literacy Education, which is tough, but enjoyable! I also run webinars with Education Centres. Keep an eye on my Social Media for upcoming courses.
I am a big fan of tea, chocolate and cake. Bring me a cuppa and some cake and I'll be your friend forever.
